Allotment Breakins

Wed, 07/26/2017

A warning to other associations: An association in Saltash has reported that their site has suffered a major break in. It was a thoroughly professional job and the association has had all its machinery stolen plus a can of petrol and strimmer line!
Plotholders sheds were also broken into although tools don't seem to have been taken machinery has and as of now they are awaiting further reports from individual members. The thieves seemed to work to a system - all the padlocks were cleanly cut with bolt croppers with no damage to structures.  It is suspected that a minor trespass with slight damage to fencing wire a month ago was in fact the thieves reconnaissance visit.
This is all to common with reports of various incidents accross the country which has lead to some sites installing some form of camera to try and catch the culprits.  Although sometimes unavoidable it is advised to not leave any valuable equipment in your allotment shed, if you must do so make sure you mark it with your postcode and house number.  Property marking kits are available online.
